Big trailies in Greece

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Sep 14, 2009.

  1. Blimey. They're everywhere. Val Doonicans, BMW GSs, V-Stroms, you name
it. The Greeks seem to love the things.

And it was a very nice break, erm, tough work trip, thanks for asking.

I'll bet the Versys is still too ugly, even for the Greeks

  4. I did see one, being beaten hard through Athens, but you're right:
conspicuous by its absence, that one apart.

Has to be said, all the Versii I've seen on the roads have been ridden
by people with beer-bottle-bottomed glasses. They are the ultimate bike
    for the visually challenged.

  6. There again, the CX500 was one of the ugliest bikes ever made, and they
    sold zillions of the things.

I remember the first Bike mag test: "If looks could kill, this thing
    should be six feet under".

    Sorry I'm late.

Anyway, I saw a Versys, black, full touring gear, just like yours on in
Argostoli, Kefalonia last week. Also seen was a white Hayabusa, two
    up, no lids.

I got used to seeing most of the scoots ridden with no lid but seeing
"proper" bikes, such as a CBR600 being ridden quite fast along a windy
mountain road, with the rider lid-less just looked plain weird to me!

My Fiat Panda was no match to keep up with him, which was probably
    fortunate.

Rule of thumb is that helmet use depends on how strict the local plod is and
at least in my area they're a bunch of useless bastards. Could be worse,
I've heard of a case where some scooter rider(s) actually started making fun
of a bypassing helmet-wearing motorcyclist. I'm not bothered that much mind,
I'm pro choice; ride your rocket helmet-less, wearing t-shirt, shorts and
flip-flops (several people do in the summer), I don't care. It's the riding
like a tw*at near me that I object to, mostly. .

Did you spot any riders riding while carrying their top-of-the-range
    Arai/Shoei through/under their elbow?

    *ding*

Which makes all the Hayabusas, Gixxers etc. even more odd.

Heh, I have to ride on what passes for 'roads' in Northern Ireland.

    Hint: I have a big trailie ;)
