The index numbers, timestamp & camera ID only have to be archived for
future reference, unless you want to use the data in real-time, which
doesn't seem to be the idea at first glance.

I take Dr. Z's point about camera quality though. Still, image
    enhancement may help here.

The actual data would only need to consist of a camera ID, say four
bytes, a byte per digit of the plate plus a couple of spares for
future changes, say 10 bytes, and a timestamp, say six bytes. Total 20
bytes plus transmission overheads. These could be reduced - including
losing camera ID per plate - by buffering larger blocks of data and of
course it could be compressed. The example I gave assumes largely
ASCII coding - not the most efficient either.

    **** no.

The Orthoptist has discharged me now she's determined what strength of
prism is needed in each lens. 7.5 in each side, which is a bit stronger
than the 3 in each I had 2 years ago

Naah. Other from that era that spring to mind include multiclac,
RBase, err, actually, I seem to have managed to erase my memory beyond
those, which is probably not a bad thing.

Christ, do you need a counterweight on the back of your head for those
    lenses?

    Orthoptist?

    Sounds keen to me ;-)
That made me chortle. Those thick bungees that sporty types wear to
hold their specs on - one of them, with the inevitable clumsy knot in
the middle of it to give the bungee some pre-tension - with a fishing
weight tied to it. That should do the job, but might preclude wearing
crash helmets when spectacled up. Could be a bit dodgy when turning
the head rapidly or nodding vigorously, too.

I suppose Loz dould always superglue a D-ring to the back of his lid,
then attach a spring to the collar of his leathers to replace the
    fishing weight when riding.
