Six days into the auction of my XJ550, and not a single bid. But the hit counter was clocking up, up, up. Now they're starting to creep out of the woodwork. ukp620.01 at 11.30am. I reckon it should go for ukp750 or so. I'll be chuffed to bits if it makes 800 quid. Oh, and if any if the three people who emailed me to ask if I'd take 500 quid ("cash") for it, I'm now going to be a lot ruder than I was in my email replies. *Fuck right off*. "It's not for me, it's for my son...." protested one lying toad. I mean, the ad said no reserve and a starting bid of 550 sovs - so a bid of 550 quid would have got it, if nobody else had bid. Which they have now, of course, which proved the second point I made in my emails - it's worth a damn sight more than 500 quid, so why should I sell it for that? Incidentally, Sweller's MZ TS150 may soon be up for grabs as I snap up the little Suzuki GN250 that eluded me the other week. If anyone here's interested, I'll flog it for what I paid Sweller for it - ukp160. I'll take the rack and box off it first, though (Sweller's got a pukka MZ rack in his Steptoe yard, he tells me). Otherwise it'll go on Ebay. To recap - 1977 TS150 in remarkably good order, red, long MoT, no tax, 24,000 miles or thereabouts, a really good runner and even handles and stops pretty well. Absolutely perfect ShiteOldBike for someone who wants a winter hack. It doesn't seem to need refuelling - I haven't run onto reserve on the tankful I put in it when I first bought the thing!
