I think I'll ask my Doctor for some. He's told me I'm suffering from depression. That really depressed me because I thought it was a mid life crisis. I mean, what's wrong with resigning from my job, handing the keys of the house to my wife and telling her to "do what you like with it" ?
wessie says... Yep, hypertension - my BP has gone from its usual 100/60 to 130/90 in a week or so. My doc's advised me to sign myself off for a week til it's settled down. -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE Suzuki SV650 K3 Honda CBR600 F-W Suzuki GSX-R750L Yamaha SR250 SpazzTrakka

Did I mention that she can keep the kids too. Unfortunately I can't quite remember how Kevin Spacey phrased "I want a job with the least responsibility" in American Beauty but I suspect I'll be practicing it if this condition lasts for much longer.
Why?
I'm just about to get my BMW K75S on the road after a 4 year absence. If you suffer a brain hemorrhage or stroke then who will respond to my write up in a witty and entertaining manner ?
Bear says... I don't like many people. I like you. Don't die.
Oh, OK. I'll try to live a bit longer then. -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE Suzuki SV650 K3 Honda CBR600 F-W Suzuki GSX-R750L Yamaha SR250 SpazzTrakka

130/90 is not that high, but I suppose with your past keeping it lower would be wise. Odd that he has started you on beta blockers - NICE guidance suggests for someone your age that other drugs are used first. Obviously, I don't know your complete medical history so the beta blockers might be appropriate in your particular case. You may get some side effects with the beta blockers. When I first started them I came close to binning the things. I had tingling in my fingers that became really annoying but this disappeared after a couple of months. You may notice your feet & hands get colder much easier, which is a PITA for a biker. Oh, and keep some immodium handy. My GP recommended switching from beta blockers after the guidelines came out a few years ago. I'm now taking 3 separate drugs so it's a bloody good job prescriptions are free over here. My BP is not as well controlled but I get fewer side effects now and less risk of long term issues from the beta blockers. Anyway, keep your pecker up. If you can. That's another side effect BTW, and viagra is counter indicated, as are poppers.
Makes me smile every time. The alternative was trying to resurrect my brothers Suzuki RV125 (1976 vintage) [1]. Which I hasten to add hasn't been completely dismissed as a potential ride for the UKRM does Elefantentreffen 2008. [1] Which he claims will start first kick once you put a fresh battery in.
wessie says... Thanks for the useful info, I'm completely new to all this stuff. Thinking about it, thee 100/60 I referred to earlier is what I was reading when I was in severe pain after I turned my ankle. It must be quite a bit lower than that normally. -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE Suzuki SV650 K3 Honda CBR600 F-W Suzuki GSX-R750L Yamaha SR250 SpazzTrakka
Donald says... I fucking love those things. A mate had one back in the early 80s and we had such a scream on it. -- Lozzo Triumph Daytona 955i SE Suzuki SV650 K3 Honda CBR600 F-W Suzuki GSX-R750L Yamaha SR250 SpazzTrakka
