The answer you are looking for in this case is 'when'

    Why do you have this?

But that is just an arbirtary limit that matches *your* definition of
    'minimised'.

What would you do it everyone adhered to that limit, and people *still*
    died in collisions?

If you're on a road where 180mph is possible, then there is little danger to
others as there ARE no others.

Exactly, therefore speed does not kill.

A great arguement for the following:

    Bullets do not kill
Hitting the ground after falling does not kill
    Nerve gas does not kill

Your conclusions are based on a false premise that because X does not always
    happen, X can never happen.

    Hardly a sensible answer.

But you are posting to usenet, not sending email.

AFAIK it is not possible to secrete a virus in a usenet post - which
makes your whole exercise rather irrelevant.

I was more curious as to why you have a signature stating that your email
is virus free on the end of a (text only and therefore virtually impossible
to infect with a virus) usenet posting.......

But since the link is essentailly text, AVG won't catch it anyways.

And it's still not an email......

How much greater is the chance of survival in a collision at 20mph than 30
    mph?

Using the 'risk of fatality-in-accident' rises with the fourth power
of speed, survival chance at 20mph is 500% that of the survival chance
    at 30mph.

Survival chance at 30mph is twice that of 35mph. (Current government

Where does that come from? Just curious like.
Surely these figures are not consistent with each other. Maths is not my

  18. About 5-10 times.

As a rough idea, about 90% of pedestrians hit at 20mph survive.
About 50% hit at 30mph die.
About 90% hit at 40mph die.

    I am that 10%.

In my view everyone should try it at least once, it's something of a
life changing experience and really makes you focus on what's important.

Plus, flying through the air looks cool.

    Ginge, Aug 25, 2004
  20. Sadly, there's hundreds if not thousands who are that 10%. :(
