No they're not, they're the means those in power, not just the elected
few, can excuse disarming the general populace to stop them interfering
    with their plans.

Germany is not uniformly faster than France.

    Far too few.

They've both been discussed at length on Newsnet. While I could
google for them, I'm sure you could too.

Where do I go anywhere towards saying that?

I have on several occasions pointed out that you can cause a death
criminally without it being so. It's still criminal behaviour, and
    its still a death.

(Btw, neither are all gun deaths deliberate pre-meditated acts of
    violence)

    | >> makes a massive difference to anything much, though. I'm also
    | >> pointing out that it was in no way a "dangerous" offence.
    |
    | > It was more dangerous than had you been doing 30.
    |
    | There were less hazards and far more road space (as well as far wider
    | pavements) than many 40, 50 or even NSL limits.

Isn't it also about the ability of other people to predict where
you'll be in n seconds, which is why 35 in a 30 is dangerous.

Like the poor punter who, with (a legal amount of) alcohol in his
blodstream, who had just hung up from a call on his mobile, who was
doing 35% over the limit on the wrong side of the road, and who killed
    a family of four.

Of course, he didn't cause the deaths with deliberate pre-meditation,
so I suppose in your view it's not violently criminal behaviour, and
so in no way comparable to causing death by any other means.

Germany is faster then france in almost all circumstances, there are very
few kms that are 110 limits.

But good to know that you realise that blanket speed limits are bad, that
the M5 Taunton - Exeter should be a different limit then the M4
    Reading-M25.

No we should go to a system where traffic police regularly patrol and pull
people up for inapropiate speed, tailgating, lane discipline, etc.

Bit like Murder Vs Manslaughter. Isn't murder premeditated, where as
manslaughter is killing through negligence, accident, or heat of moment.

In this case the "punter" should have been done for dangerous driving and
possibly manslaughter. If a drunk throws a brick off the top of a building
    are they done for murder?

Compare to that case you mentioned a while back about the driver
deliberatly reversing a couple hundered yards up the road and into the 2
cyclists (although why they didn't get out of the way interests me). That
was murder, pre meditated and all. A much worse situation than the
    "punter" one.

How does this follow? The eye/brain predicts future position based on
    perceived *actual* speed [1]

[1] Except for those of the current batch of West Indian bastmen
    obviously.

Patrick Herring () gurgled happily, sounding much like they
    were saying :
Besides the fact that 35 is hardly light speed, and thus not exactly
difficult to predict the future path; and besides the fact that 35 in a 30
is not exactly completely unknown... What other people? There were none. No
    peds, no other cars.

to it doing the same speed.

Of course it will. Bu thow much faster can the Focus go before losing that
advantage? Answer - not very much.

Where do I say that? I do say that blanket destricted roads are
    unheard of.
In Germany it's normally varying speed limits on a single given
autobahn. Often the limit is implemented or lowered due to the
    presence of junctions.

    How would they avoid him?

You seem to be a fan of the lower limits arround cities in Germany
Yes, although not all junctions IIRC. The limit is then removed after the
    hazzard has passed.

They also have limits on steep downhill stretchs

You think that 35 means 34.5 to 35.5? I don't. I think it means you were
    doing over 35.

I just didn't think it'd be set that low.

Besides, I've already said what the speedo reading was - I didn't realise
it was reading slightly low after a recent change of tyres, as I'd not
cross-checked it to the GPS since.

It sounds like criminal negligence or manslaughter or whatever a similar
non-motoring wreckless incident would be classed as.

Can you provide a link for it?

Do you think that because certain nutters do stupid things with cars that
all car drivers should somehow be penalised or blamed?
