Surely you don't think he nicked that too? Does that mean his
girlfriend should have been done for handling stolen property?

Whilst I would accept this is accurate in many cases I don't think it's
universal. I'm afraid that there's also a bit of nature in there rather
    than just nurture.

Some people are just 'bad' despite the efforts of their parents.
However this is sometimes just in their adolesence.

    Hear hear.

The 17 year old could easily have killed someone else. It happened
    round here.

Would you still feel the same way if this same 17 year old killed someone
    you care about whilst thieving?????.

    Thought so.

    What relevance does this have?

If you're involved in the aftermath of a crime then you aren't in a
position to have a clear view of the issue since emotion becomes
    involved.

If he'd stolen my bike I'd want to kick the shit out of him- but this
doesn't make it 'right', it makes me wrong.

  9. Maybe he only borrowed it, in which case they'd do him for taking and
    buggying away.

A thief on a stolen motorcycle,
    does not a motorcyclist make.

    Bollocks.

So some of you support the bike thieves, very odd???

No, but we do support posting in a comprehensible fashion. The
previous post that you quoted had the attribution line removed so it
was not obvious who had made it - and then you removed the indent,
making it appear that *you* had posted it and that you are arguing
with yourself. I have left your post unaltered above, so that you can
    see what you've done.

If you insist on communicating, do so in the conventional manner in
order that you may be understood.

  13. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "Paul B" <mlpb(spam block
    remove)@btinternet.com> saying something like:
If someone I cared about was out thieving and got killed; well, that's
    an occupational hazard.

  14. And how, my dear Einstein, did you reach that conclusion, based on my
    reply?

And did you read any of the rest of this thread?

    Evidently not.

Take your brain out of your knapsack next time.

I don't think any of us supported bike thieves.

My position was that the death of a bike thief should not be the cause
of 'celebration' in a civilised country and that the thief could well
have changed his ways had he grown up. Platy's position was that the
cause was probably nurture and not nature.

Your position? **** knows. Probably dragging your knuckles on the
ground whilst breathing through your mouth and moaning softly.

Do you lot ever go to the club meets like the Bulldog or Rock "n" Blues.
Fancy a meet? Bit of a drinky and a pipe of thought enhancing herbs... Or
    are you "just" commuters.

Do I spot a little dislike to commuters here? Maybe the fact that
some people chose to ride to work on their bikes some days, most
days or even everyday shows more connection to bikes than the week-
end warrior donning his Faded Denim Vest(tm, HD 1674) with the
mail order patches of all the bike meets?

No. They're full of posey wannabe 1-percenter wankers.

Despite living quite close, I also avoid the Waterman and Bassett's
Pole, because they're full of posturing wankers.
Mainly a commuter. Don't mix too much drink with riding, don't bother
with drugs these days (hey, break a few ribs, puncture a lung, get
ketamine in the HDU, decide that it's probably time never to bother
with anything other than alcohol). Not cummuting quite as much as the
600 miles a week I was doing at the start of this century.
