    Hi,

Which is the FOAK choice of intercom, ideally a few to choose from, from
    pikey up through the ranks.

Suitable for use with earplugs, primarily for talking to pillion so wired
will do, but could be tempted to go wireless (what is their range).

    TIA

Perhaps I should add at this point that I looked at Autocom, but would like
    some options below £100...

  9. One that breaks early, so you realise soonest what a bloody awful
mistake you made buying one in the first place.

I did some significant research on the subject, (Google is your friend)
about a month ago. Look at Intaride and Starcom before you go charging off
and buy an Autocom. Autocom may still be first choice, but at a price..

I did some significant research (well, ok, two test rides, with
another person using Autocom gear) several months ago, which included
real testing. I looked at Intaride, and found it worked up to
(restricted) moped speeds but beyond that the microphone failed to
pick out the voice adequately and the earpieces weren't powerful
enough to combat the sound of a 49cc engine having its nuts revved
off, let alone the wind noise at that speed.

    OTOH Autocom just *works*.

Having bought the Intaride and used it in France on the BB, I can confirm
that it works well at speeds well above legal limits.
Most of our initial problems were to do with the positioning of the
earpieces and the mike. Once these were correct, no problemo, even with me
    wearing earplugs.
I think an intercom buyer would be foolish to disregard the two other
serious options and go straight for an Autocom, especially when Intaride
offer a 14 day moneyback guarantee.
I really couldn't say if Autocom is better, as I didn't try it, but the
Intaride does a perfectly acceptable job for 100 quid less than the
comparable Autocom and does PMR, satnav, music and phone.

At least you tested it and I respect your conclusions, but I do wonder how
up to date the research is when people just seem to chant 'Autocom'
    whenever someone mentions intercoms.

    Yer pays yer money etc.
