best classic jap

  1. I know. I dropped mine a couple of times. Not slung it up the road sort
    of dropped it, just let it get too far over while maneuvering.

    Also built the first Wankel engined motorcycle (1965 IIRC) but it didn't
    go into large scale production.

    Yes, MZ were also the first to use disk valves, however Velocette,
    used reed valves in the Viceroy. Of course the first two stroke which
    used a valve (rotary) was Scott before WW1 (1910 IIRC).

    DKW are credited with that. They built blown split-single two stroke
    racers before WW2. In the case of MZ there was two lines of
    development, the road-racers using disk valve and the scramblers. I
    seem to remember them using reed valves on the scrambler engine.
