Bennets vs Carol Nash vs Bike Team

Got my renewal from Bennets - £339 (with Zenith as previous years) -
49yo CBR1100XX no claims or convictions, fully comp SD&P only, fairly
    low mileage.

Had a look at Carol Nash - quoted £287 with Equity Red Star, and free
    breakdown, I assume.

Went to Bike Team - they quoted £224, also with Equity Red Star (but
no breakdown cover, so probably about the same as CN).

Didn't take quote at the time, then received an email from Bike Team,
with new quote of £162, also with Equity Red Star. Accepted that, and
actual docs say premium of £115 (I assume the difference is protected
NCB, legal cover etc). This quote also has a lower excess than the
    others (£300 instead of £450).

    I think that's a result?

Sounds good. Did you run a quote through Ebike too? Their price includes UK
    breakdown cover.

If you want a Euro breakdown policy that is almost identical to the CNash
offering then it will cost £59 from

    I did - £463
Thanks for that - since I travel to France often, I will follow that up.

  4. apart from the policy being with ERS, you're probably right.

I've never had a policy with them - are they crap? It's what everyone
seems to be offering atm. I've had a few years with Zenith, but
unless you need to claim you never know what they are really like
(which I haven't - although I nearly did after the trouble in France,
but Bennets were not very helpful).

Ah. Yes, well spotted. I noticed the CN was with ERS[1] but glossed over
the Bike Team one. They have a terrible reputation, especially in BMW
circles, as they are/were the main underwriter for BMW's own insurance
    scheme.

ERS has been taken over by a bunch of Antipodeans, IAG. So have Hastings
Direct. Perhaps they will improve with new owners...

[1] thought it was odd as CN has been taken over by Groupama and I sort of
assumed all policies, like mine, would be underwritten by them.

  7. Some here have had issues with them in the past.
But as you say, they appear to be going for market share of late - which
could mean they've bucked their ideas up, or it could mean that they
have so many customers they can't support them properly.

Let's hope you don't find out which.

I think you'll find that the people at http://www.bennets.co.uk/ are very
    obliging.

Those at http://www.bennetts.co.uk/ have never been very helpful once they
    have your cash.

My claim with ERS was as smooth as you like. No complaints here at all.

And mine was fine too, barring the (expected) discussion regarding claim
    value.
