    It's shit.

You sad, deluded, "less bread", rigger-boot-wearing cunts. You *know*
    I'm right.

    That is all.

  2. I don't which is worse, the coffee they serve or the women that serve
    it.

    <fx: shudder>

I did try a sandwich from them a couple of years ago when I first
started working around here - bloody awful. Yet there are hundreds of
the things, and they're always full. One's gone now, but there used to
be two on Cheapside within about 3 doors of each other.

Having said that, I can think of 4 Starbucks within 3 minutes walk of
    the office.

Benjys, Starbucks, Prets, et al are all shit in varying degrees. The
little independents are what you want.

  5. I went to a sandwich shop in Cornhill, just up from the monument bit
there and he wanted five fucking quid! That's one round of sandwiches
btw, a poncy red fucking carrying box and a poncy bag to put it in. I
felt a **** walking across the road with it and no mistake.

  6. I'm no longer around there, but the EAT opposite Bride Lane was pretty good.
Far better than the big chains, anyway. The soups have some semblance of
originality and character. The little Spanish cake-shop on the corner of
Bride Lane did filled rolls of Benjy-plus quality at Benjy-minus prices.

    prices.

EAT is probably the best of the chain lot - the one on Cowcross Street
    is particularly good.

you're right. I can highly recommend Ozzie's on Ludgate Hill.

Pret are part of MacDonalds now - it's no wonder they're shit.

    There's one in Soho Square - it's a bit of a lame Pret-meets-Coffee-Republic
    ripoff, IYAM.

they're very variable - the one on Ludgate Hill is pathetic.

They make the sandwiches on the premises and some are a lot more stingy
    with the fillings than others.

Their chilli-bean soup is great, IMO.

What happened to soup shops? They were all the rage a year or 2 ago, and
now the fuckers have all shut. There was a place on Goodge street that did
fantastic Jewish-style chicken soup, and cassoulet, and it's now a fucking
    kebab shop. Sheesh

supply and demand. You've always got the Covent Garden Soup Company not
    a million miles away.

There the same people that provide the extortion ate sandwiches and
coffee at the Royal Festival Hall? If so then they're shit.

    <Provincial country cousin>

I had to read down the thread to realise you were talking about a
    sandwich shop.
