    wtf.

that's where Honda Fireblade exhaust-valve cables come from,
    apparently.

oh well, it's not like I was going to ride it at the weekend anyway.

And there are no spares in the UK?

How does that wear out anyway - especially in a bike that's not that old.

It's the hub of their Euro parts network. Read some spiel about "any part
can be delivered to a Honda dealer within 24 hours".

Obviously bollocks then. JIT? More like JTL.

    apparently no-one's got one.
    well, it's 3 years old and 12,000 miles - apparently it's not
    uncommon.

The cable hasn't actually snapped, but apparently isn't far off it.

    ah, that explains it.
well, my dealer only found out no-one in the UK has one today, so, in
theory, 24hrs in business terms is next Tuesday, which is when they
tell me they'll have the part.

Oh, and FOYRNB in respect of your "lack of use" comment.

I seem to recall that's where fairings for the cbr6 came from as
    well.... both times.

Dave Silver somehow get the parts cheaper than the Honda dealer.

Have you tried the Blade Shop 01787 223 201 ? I'd be surprised if
they didn't have one and they're only out near Witham. I almost
have a another good reason to go there..
Now that the blingdicators are gone....

  11. Ghent. Honda's main parts warehouse for all of Europe.

A few years (OK, many years) ago, Honda UK's parts department was run by
an irascible Oirishman whose name is omitted here to preserve his
    modesty.

Ghent can supply something like 95% of all Honda spares - cars, bikes,
lawnmowers, generators, outboards, you name it - but if Ghent doesn't
have it, it has to be ordered from Japan. There's a thing called a VOR
(Vehicle Off Road) priority order for parts that will actually get a
    stalled Honda moving again.

Anyway, in this instance Ghent didn't have it and a VOR order was duly
filed, and the part was air freighted out. And, unusually, Japan fucked
up and sent the wrong part.

And Mr O'Nonymous got on the phone and bawled out his opposite number in
Japan. Serious breach of protocol, that, because although they were
nominally equal, O'Angry was a round-eye and not a slope and therefore
    second division.

O'Narked finished his tirade with: "I don't know how the fucking hell
all you little buggers managed to get together and find Pearl Harbour on
    the right day...."

And in perfect English, without an iota of hesitation, back came the
reply: "Ah, well, you see, we thought it was San Francisco....."
