Ok so after a few nights in I seem to have accumulated a stash of bottle
tops and seem to remember that someone wanted them for their sprogs school.

If any one wants them send me a snail mail address to
    kendotmarshatbtinternetdotcom.

If you are talking about plastic bottle tops (not sure, with you mentioning `beer lids`),
then I hope you know its just a big scam, perpetrated by God knows who, but they have
managed to get the whole country (schools, workplaces, etc) joining in & no one knows who
or where these tops are destined for, although a toddler who needs a wheelchair seems to
be the main `carrot` as it were.....

You are either wide of the mark or you have your wires crossed -
either one could be true, as you have managed to post with an
excessive line length and omitted to snip the signature of the poster
to whom you responded so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this
time and assume that you are well-meaning but misguided.

Ken was responding to Elly, who asked some time ago that anybody who
found themselves with a surfeit of beer bottle tops would be good
enough to pass them on. They were for use (as Ken accurately recalls)
in craft lessons at school where the Newcastle Brown tops are in
particularly great demand due to carrying a big blue star.

The bottle top situation has now been resolved, as a steady source of
supply has been found. So thanks Ken but it is fine, and no thanks to
    Carolyn for casting aspersions.

I was always mildly surprised that a steady source of supply wasn't
    located earlier...

The accumulation in the marge tub on our windowsill can in no way
compete with the bottle-opener catch boxes in the pub, see.
