Hey everyone - Sorry I have been gone for so long, but I just got back from 3 weeks in California. There was a TON of new messages on the board. That's good to see, but I wasn't able to go through them all. Sorry if I missed anything good. I go back out of town at the end of this week, then back home, then back to CA for a long stay. At least I think I have found a few places to rent a decent bike in CA for a fair rate. I drove the little Honda I had through some of the more rural highways of Cali through the forest reserves and mountains. I was gripping for my bike and some riding pals the whole time. Had the tires on that little Honda squealing for all they were worth through the twisties. Maybe next time it will be on a bike. Anyway, I missed chatting with everyone and hope everyone is doing OK! --Fullstate
Thx, Sunny. It wasn't too bad. I had a nice place to stay. Had some time to myself on the weekends, but didn't know anybody and didn't have a bike. I think I have a fix for that next time, though. Had some nice weather yesterday - went for a short ride with Bling! he bought a 'Priller just like mine but a different color. He's still getting used to it. --Fullstate
Welcome back FS, been kinda quiet without you around. Hopefully we'll see you out on the road soon. Rob

I'm currently working in the greater LA area, got my bike here so I am familiar with some of the back roads. A word of warning, it gets cold on top of some of these mountains, and some roads are closed for snow. George Pollard
Bay Area - a long way from you. I'm staying in the Saratoga, San Jose, Campbell area. I think I am going to ship my gear out there for the next trip and rent a scoot for the weekends. ;-) --Fullstate
LOL.. Blew the transmission on my pickup and the brakes went out.. Caught the flew worse than I have ever had it.. I did catch up a bit and put about 800 or so miles on the Vulcan while I was down there, though.. All the years that I have been going down to Guadalajara, this was the worse trip, ever.. Waco and I are planning a run down there in March.. You might as well go with us.. We plan to make up for the bad trip I made in December.. LOL.. Glad you made it back OK.. I love Texas, but California has the best motorcycle roads around. If you are still there in the summer, the Sierra Nevada passes are way cool, but right now the smaller ones are snow-filled (they don't plow them). Many good rides in the foothills, though. If you haven't seen this page, it may help you plan a route: <http://www.pashnit.com/motoroads.htm> George
I think a trip in March sounds great. I'll have to see if I can get some time off, then, to make it. How long are you two planing on being down there for? --Fullstate
Depends on how much time off Waco can manage.. That will also determine the length or mileage of the trip.. LOL.. I am waiting to hear from Waco in regards to that .. March is usually a perfect time of year to make that run and the weather should be perfect... Let me know as soon as you can.. Permits and Visas can be gotten in advance in Dallas, at the Mexican Consulate.. Much more convenient than stopping at the border.. That in hand, crossing is limited to one stop for customs inside about 20 miles.. Be looking for you to ride with us.. Your friend in Irving Bill Walker
Well, I can get as much time as we need. The problem is that my daughter's b-day is Mar20 (the same day as the Easyrider Bike Show). You has suggested maybe leaving on a Friday. Perhaps we could schedule it for Mar 26 (Fri) to Apr 4 (Sun)? That would be 10 solid days and would give us plenty of time to harass the locals. I could even squeeze in another day by taking the following Monday (Apr 5) off, if needed.
Sounds fine with me.. Leave on Mar. 26 and plan the return on Apr 4.. That should be plenty of time to do what we have talked about and visit the places we discussed.. Plan on covering over 3000 miles and we will be in the ballpark... Your friend in Irving Bill Walker
If I can get the time off that sounds like a plan. I may ask for your assistance in obtaining the permits and what-not since you have the experience in that arena. You aren't going to get me sold off into white slavery and have my bike stripped and sold for parts while we are down there, are you? --Fullstate
The market for "Eyetalyun" bike parts, in Mexico has fallen slightly and I believe that wouldn't make it worthwhile.. Bald headed "dudes" aren't selling well in the "slave market".. LOL.. damn.. guess you got a "pass" on this trip... OK.. sounds like a plan.. We can get the paperwork thing taken care of as soon as you get time to run over to the consulate in Dallas.. Your friend in Irving Bill Walker
I think it would be worthwhile to get the three of us together and discuss what we need, etc. I obviously will be in purchase mode to pick up some stuff (throttle meisters, bags, rain gear, etc.). I still have to clear the time off with work. --Fullstate
