    Hi,
Its time to renew my bike insurance again and I got a rude shock when quoted
$750+ to Comprehensively insure my RT1200 with NRMA Vintage Veteran Classic
ect Insurance. Done the ring around job and got quotes ranging from $1000+
down to $414 from Shannons for an agreed price policy, anyone had any
experience with these people?? A lot cheaper than NRM(Bloody)A
    Cheers

    if you go with shannons

    you get
    agreed value
$3K for the riders gear IIR and cover for pillion gear
there is option to keep the wreck

    you must have lockup garage
    and not every day use

Any idea how they define that?

These days none of the motorcycles is every day use as I ride the
'bent to work 3-4 days a week.

    everyday use ?
well of course its open to interpretation

I believe its against regular commuting

I assume we are talking about norge here ?

you of course have the T which you ride on the other days dont you ;)

maybe on the rare occasion you might ride it to work

there is of course the 8K pa limit which you can push out to 15K when you
    get the insurance
by mentioning that you go interstate several times a year and do some long
trips , so you dont ride a
whole lot during the year but when you do that you do a lot of kays

maybe a quiet call or more so an email to qualify what their terms are ,
much better having in writing of course :)

Possibly, but I'm also thinking of seeing what they'll give me as a
    volume discount :)

Only one is really worth insuring at the moment, which is The Old
Girl, the others are just not worth enough singly. But a policy
covering the lot would be good :)

Most of my bikes the insurance would be for paintwork, as parts are
    usually supplied from my shed...

So my normal 500 kms a week is OK as long as I don't ride on Tuesdays?

    Theo
10 weeks and 5300 kms on the Norge.

  9. They are pretty good that way Zebee, you insure one vehicle with them then
tack the rest onto the same policy as extras, the extras don't cost much in
my experience. Pretty flexible on the usage too(touring etc), what they
don't like is everyday commuters. Very firm on the garaging though, a
lockup garage means a lockup garage.

When I added the L200 ute(as an everyday driver) to the Jag policy it cost
very little more than third party would have. The sidecar is with Shannons
now, the cheapest agreed value quote by far.

Last time I looked, Shannon's limited the bike to 8,000 kms per annum.
A few more weeks and you would hit the limit.

Just got CTP Green Slip for the Beemer, was from QBE and they wanted
$492...........got onto the MRA site and took the $260 option from
GIO.............total saving on bike rego and insurance by ringing/net
surfing = $600........a worth wile exercise me thinks..........guess they
count on people just paying the renewal slips when they come in with out
    further investigation eh?

I'd sooner ride the bike than save $100 on insurance and leave it in the
(lock-up) garage for 40 weeks of the year.
