There's some SPECS cameras popped up on the A428 between northampton and
bedford. The poles have been up for a while but this monday there were
cameras as well. Doing good business as well judging by the number of cars
speeding up to them and then braking at the last moment.

Anyway, on the way in this morning was heartened to see one of them had been
cut down[1] and was lying like a toppled oak on the side of the road. Thats
£330,000 down the pan then ;o)

[1] These are big buggers, as tall as a lamppost. Looked like an
    anglegrinder job.

    The camera looked very flat.

Well, only as long as they did a thorough job of smashing all the
    electronics to bits too mind.

You don't think falling from a great height might not acheive this?

Still, they'll replace it - and it'll be more ammunition to the 'safety
partnerships' about why they are necessary.

Oh look, my numberplate fell off.

On a related note, anyone know what are these "new speed cameras that clock
you a mile off" ? They were mentioned on the news last night in the press
roundup, and are headline "news" in the Daily Express today. I can't bring
myself to go and buy a copy, or even browse one at the newsagents, and their
    website is shite.

    someone else!)

    Apparently it's 2000m - so over a mile.

Still, not a problem for bikes - until the stick on numberplate comes in.

If visibility is good for 2000m what's the danger in speeding?

Criminal perhaps, but mindless? I think not.
