Be very careful buying bikes on a whim...

Once the plastics were off and the exhaust plus the carb it was about
    four
bolts and the swing arm bolt. I managed to push the swing arm bolt
    back
in so it was mostly in two lumps.

My first 'crosser had issues but not that bad; I've heard of filler
being used to hide broken engine mounts before now.

I did see one bloke who had a YZ250 a year older than mine that was in
better condition and ran better, too.

Current one's from a dealer; it was only about three or four years old
when I bought it. I was told it had seized and had a cylinder
replating, and the expansion chamber has a slight ding, but apart from
that and being generally battered - obviously hard used - it was OK.

Since then it's had a gearbox rebuild (I also bought new rings for it
at the time but the old ones were still well within spec so I put them
back in), rear wheel respoke, an uprated spring for the rear shock and
the top mounting point for the front number plate snapped off the top
yoke when I cartwheeled it. I've also recently discovered that the
power valve linkage was loose, which probably explains why it was a
bit lacklustre when I last rode it almost a year ago.

Summer's gone ad *finally* I've got time to ride it. It's been a year
of car repairs, house repairs, shed repairs, people's special
birthdays, relatives visiting, family holidays, you name it. Bloody
    frustrating.

Pity all the MX tracks will be quagmires by now.

That's what I told the lad when he expressed a desire to stick the MX
wheels back in the YZ85 and go to practice track. Apex near Worcester
may not be too bad as it is sandy rather than muddy. I'm trying to get
him to wait until the early spring, keep the supermoto wheels on and
we'll go to the Haynes track or Kinsham Raceway (Kart track in
Herefordshire that has supermoto practice sessions).

I think you qualify for a Special Dispensation. I'm sure someone will second
    the motion.

    Lessee...
    cost of a widescreen TV
cost of a reclining lounge chair
    pizza delivery charge
    beer

Check. Sounds like a bargain to me.

When Adie bought her new car she phoned me to tell me what she was
looking at and I said that if she liked it she should buy it and when
I bought the KTM she was away watching the football and the first she
knew was when she asked what I'd done that day and I just told her I'd
bought a bike and asked her to give me a lift the following Saturday
    to pick it up.

I've actually sold a bike this year and not replaced it so I can have
    two next year.

Cost of flying around Europe to watch Everton play....

I nearly got a slap when Everton didn't get into Europe this year and
I said it was a good thing because she wouldn't be blowing her annual
    leave watching them play abroad.
