Nice one Pete, hope it goes well for you. You've got the mechanical
background after all, just get your heart around the subtle differences
between using a defibrilator and using jump leads on your bike and
    Bob's your uncle.

Cool. Do you get special training in going "tut, tut. People shouldn't be
allowed to ride these bloody death traps"?

Remember Mr. Bean defribillating the guy at the bus stop, using jump
    leads from the lamp post?

    Oh shit.

I used to work for MRAS (Mersey Regional Ambulance Service), there are
Technicians and Paramedics that have a list of people they don't want to
assist should they be involved in an accident..

But, good luck to you, I hope you achieve your goal. I've been meaning
to do the hands-on bit for the MRAS for a couple of years now but one
thing and another has stopped me.

Doesn't mean he'll be on a bike, depends on the service he joins and
there are not many that utilise bikes. MRAS tried it for a couple of
years (before Trust status) and decided it was uneconomical, believe it
    or not.

Oddly enough, missing limbs and stuff wouldn't bother me. I don't like
it when people are being sick though, I seem to come over all funny and
    have to join them..yuck.
MRAS have a Paramedic on every EPS vehicle, backed up with an Ambulance
Technician, if the Trust you are joining does a similar thing you could
well be doing that anyway before you achieve Paramedic status.
Good luck Petel, it will require a lot of study to pass the test but it
    will be worth it.

    Nidge says...
Depends on the Trust. MRAS have two specific areas, EPS and PTS,
Emergency Paramedic Status and Private Transport Status. If you join
MRAS as a Technician you are teamed up with a Paramedic on the EPS
vehicles, there is no involvement in looking after grannies taking them
somewhere for treatment as that is covered by the PTS group.

No, limited availability on that front. And everything that they are
allowd to administer is counted in and out.

**** the St John Ambulance one right off, it *does not* cover what you
need to know. I would suggest getting in touch with the Trust concerned
and asking them what they suggest you read. Also, did they not provide
you with a package of material prior to the first stage anyway?
