That's another thing. I'm damn sure I heard him say brake _shoes_. More
than once. Three times IIRC. You didn't tape it did you?

I suppose I could look at the Sky+ webshite but what is it? Is it like
that old Homeview thing where you could pause and rewind TV programmes
as if you were watching a tape?

How the dickens does it work?

Don't know what Homeview is, but, yeah, that's pretty much it.
It records 2 channels at the same time - the one you're currently
watching, plus whatever you ask it to record.

The recording is done as a digital stream, which is fantastic for slo-mo
    replays and freeze-frame.

Recording the program you're watching also means you can pause and
    rewind what you're currently watching.

BTW - it's all done on a 20gig hard drive - which is about to be
upgraded in mine to at least 60gb.

Anyway - the Police Stop thingie is on the HDD and I'll have a look when
I get a chance.... currently watching a repeat of 2-pints when they do
    all the chart-act spoofs.

You know, that bloke in a beret that went round in a tank in the ads.
Ha! Home choice, that's what it was! ;-)
So do you need to be getting Sky already, and I don't suppose you need a
    video recorder any more?

Just interested really. All this is a bit academic until I get my own
    place anyway :-\
Missed 2-pints. Don't think I've ever seen one actually.

Was this some sort of Rediffusion jobbie?

(Just reminded of this, 'cos I've been to some elderly former
neighbour's house today, and they _still_ have the box on the wall)
It's part of the Sky subscription for me - but, yes, you do need to
subscribe to Sky to get it.
Probably the best episode ever. On Beeb3 now.

  11. Since the firmware upgrade last year you can record 2 progs
simultaneously and watch either one of the two or something else
recorded earlier, with all the goodies such as pausing and rewinding
a prog which is currently recording.
It's 20 hours of TV on a 40GB disk these days,
or thousands of hours of radio4.

And the best feature is the digital audio output so you can
get 5.1 through a suitable amp.

Unless it's hideously out of date, I've found their still going.

Looks like a freeview selection with movies and broadband thrown in.

At £50, I reckon I should get off my arse and go buy a freeview box, eh?

It's the closest to multi-channel TV I'm going to get whilst I'm living
    in this shite 'ole :)

    Interesting. Not seen that before.
Well worth having, IMHO. If we could get Freeview here, I'd have a box
for the spare room and kitchen. Went for wireless video senders instead.

Only just had mine installed - they were the specs. I looked up when
    deciding to go for it.
Again, I need to check what I have. I'd still upgrade even if I do have
    40gb already.
Aye - that's on the shopping list. But it's a long way down.

I did a freeze-frame on the bike, and it definitely looks like Bandit
    600 on the tailpiece.

I thought I saw 600 on the tailpiece too but that and the black engine
    casings didn't add up.

I didn't notice the black engine but on the tailpiece I could quite
discern if the logo was the "Bandit" logo or the "1200" logo.

Did they make a 1200 in that colour? I was going to say they may have
put a 600 tailpiece on but the tank was also the same colour as the said
    tailpiece..

I believe you can dump recordings you want to keep off the HD out to a
    video ... or DVD.
