  3. Only if you have no coordination. It makes the steering interesting but
    that's what's fun about it.

With a car? No. But I've towed bikes with bikes, both as tower and
towee. Most amusing was when I towed my mate's SL125 behind my
    750Turbo.

Can be difficult if the bike has a rear rack and top box - instead of
leaping astride the machine there is every chance of kicking the top box
therby knocking the bike over - and then landing on the wreckage.

I'm an unfit 5' 8" tall weed. I used to be able to bump start my old
ZZR1100 on my own. You obviously can't select second gear on a ZZR1100
from standstill, so that makes it harder. It bumped easily within 10
    yards of pushing

I towed and was towed a few times. The scariest was towing a broken down
RD250C with a KE100 trail bike for 10 miles. Towing blown up RD400s and
350LCs back from Chelsea Bridge with tied together football scarves was
a weekly occurence for me and my mates when I was a lad. I watched one
pair overtake a whole line of cars and bikes at well over 100 mph on the
M1 with nothing but 3 football scarves keeping them apart.

    That sounds like fun. :)

I've never been towed on a bike, or been towed. I'm sure it's all
perfectly legal to tow a bike but you just hardly ever hear of people
    doing that.

Why can't you select 2nd gear from standstill, I noticed that this morning
and wondered whether the gearbox was fubared or something.

    What Champ said.
Quite. That's why bumping the Wing is *so* difficult.

Kawasaki's "positive neutral selector" or summat.

Go down as far as you can, then up, and you'll always be in neutral.

    Simple.

A lot of Kawasakis are fitted with a positive neutral finder. It means
it's easier to find neutral at a standstill by not allowing you to
    select second.

Just get it rolling a little, even rocking it forward, while sat astride,
and it'll hook up into 2nd. Then get off, clutch in, and do the deed.

Slightly more technical is the bumping of a bike with a fuct clutch cable...

I've tried this on 3 ZZR1100s, it didn't work. Even trying to hook
second while bumping didn't work. I found it easier to push faster and
select first to bump the ZZR.

They never break down cos they never do the miles like we used to.

Most bikers nowadays have breakdown cover as well.

  20. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
    My mate's brother _pushed_ a Vespa 15miles home for the above reasons;
built like a brick shithouse he was, but the brain of a carrot. It was
just a broken LT wire on the ign coil.
