    I remember trying to get some from a wholesaler but the quantities I'd
    have to buy it in were huge. Relatively speaking.

    As you only need a teaspoon per cell for a normal car battery it was
    impractical to buy in those quantities.

    I bought about 250g 7 or 8 years ago, I've still got most of it and
    plenty of duff bike batteries have been rescued in the mean time.

  2. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
    Heh. Same here - a kilo bag was kicking around for ages and never seemed
    to go down even though several batteries had been brought back from the
    brink of doom. I don't know where the bag is now, but there's a chemical
    wholesaler just down the road who stocks it.

    I've been using it for years after reading about it in the Scimmy mag;
    just discovered the article reproduced here...

    Thanks to all who replied. Have deduced that the reg / rec unit is not
    working, as the battery is not charging and the multimeter readings between
    the pins on the unit are not what the HBOL say they should be.

    Hopefully I'll get another reg/rec today.

    Oi! You're not a real chemist - you've made that quite clear on
    numerous occasions.
    But your explanation will do very nicely, TYVM.
