    Greetings

Can anyone recommend a providore of batteries who keeps a reasonable
    range in stock.

Looking for a YTX12-BS for the ER5 (which /almost/ got to go for it's
blue slip today) but I also need a new battery for the Suzuki Sierra
    (biggest thing that will fit).

Preferably north side - I'm in Terrey Hills if that helps.

Tried Brookvale Batteries ("sorry mate, out of stock") and Battery World
("No one can take you call right now").

I've bought 3 batteries from Ebay now (3 different bikes) and I'm VERY
    happy!

(By the way; last time I measured up the battery compartment and found
I could fit in a 1" higher-than-standard battery so I went to the
Yuasa site and trawled through their dimensions and then went to Ebay
and got a YTX16 instead of the standard YTX14 for a little more
    robustness)

  5. Not your end of town, but I had to replace the same battery (BMW
F650GS twin) a couple of weeks ago, rang the two local bikeshops, yes
they both had something at around $90 or so but both were unknown
cheap brands(unknown quality) and one shop didn't have a clue what
    sort of battery it was.

The local(Penrith) Battery World had a few to choose from
100-169-215(brand name AGM). They did me a very good deal on the AGM
in the end, I want reliability more than cost savings and the bike
doesn't get ridden on a regular basis so I wanted something that
should hold its charge when not being ridden (the original Exide was a
shocker). Yes it does go on a charger regularly, along with its 3
    friends in the garage.

I don't know if there is a distributor in Terrey Hills or that area,

    R & J Batteries NSW

151 Uriarra Rd, Queanbeyan NSW 2620

    TEL: (02) 6299 2733

    http://www.rjbatteries.com.au/battery/bike-batteries/motobatt

but I got a couple of new batteries from a local supplier and they are
    called Motorbatt batteries
They are great as with a lot of bikes, and cars too, you have to get a
battery with the terminals in the correct position
With the Motorbatt, they have two sets of terminals, one either side of the
    battery, so it doesn't matter.
All you need to have is the right amperage.
They also have extra panels, which you can take off if the battery will not
fit into the cradle, or leave them on if the battery is too loose in the
    cradle

Look through their pages and give them a call to see if they will send you
    one

    I used this mob recently:

    http://www.allpurposebatteries.com.au/

as recommended by someone else on the group. There were great and I had
the battery in a couple of days.

Yep, the Supercharges are doing just fine in the car too. Heaps of
    grunt, fully sealed.

Being a calcium battery, a standard charger may not bring them fully
up to spec (but enough to prevent sulphation) but the car alternator
will take care of the remainder when driving.

Allpurpose..I found cheaper ordering direct on their website rather
than via the ebay shop. Worth doing for many ebay traders..search for
    their direct web shop.

For SLA (not Gel) batteries, do they ship them with acid in, or do you
    have to acquire some yourself?

Also, is there a Gel or AGM alternative for the good ol' CB10L-B2 used
in the Suzuki GS500? Looks like the MB10U Motobatt might suit.

Send them an email, I found them quite helpful with questions.

    cheers, Bill

And where did the Bruce come from? Am I being whooshed?

They come with a little foil 6-bottle actid-pack that you invert and
push down and it fills each cell precisely.

If you want an SLA the YTX10L-BS seems to be right. (the L denotes a
left-hand vent-pipe but SLA has no vent-pipe so no probs)!
