I just checked out a 350LC I once owned. It had the very distinctive
number, PRO 3W. It turns out it's now on a VW Transporter registered in
    Dec 2000.

Really? Didn't have him down as a diesel type driver.
Mind you, I've always had diesels, well apart from my current SOC a Rover

There is a Celica out there with the plate A1 CNT. How appropriate.
Don't know what happened to my old favourite 130LOX though :-(

A Merc ML270 is a 4x4, not really an MPV as stated on the site. They are
Merc's answer to the Range Rover or Discovery, kind of between the two.
The Merc V class is the people carrier, based on the Vito van body.

  11. My old GSX550 (OOU550Y) seems to be still going. I had it in WheelTorque in
Bristol for some work, and Dave remarked that he'd sold it at least 5 times.

Seems to be yonks out of date... I just shoved in the reg of my SOC and it
says that the last change of owner was in 1993.
Which is bollox cos I bought it and registered it in my name in 2002.

It seems, the only has vehicles on its database are those that are taxed
    or SORN'd.

It doesn't seem that accurate either, as the last change of keeper isn't
right on an old SAAB I had (it predates me selling it). But that's
    probably DVLC records.

It dates some of the tax exempt class as January 0001. I thought all but
my MZ trophy comes in as turn of the century (!) but an older, SIIa Land
Rover comes in at the correct 1970. That was ex ministry and was give an
age related if that makes any difference.

Very few of my former vehicles seem to exist. Whether that says anything
about my stewardship as the PO or they're all SOCs is a moot point

Seems to just use the end of the year. Still, it's nice to know that
the UK authorities presumably don't know that the Volvo has been
exported to Switzerland. Not sure what they'll think of it's SORN
status though, as I haven't been re-doing it each year, and the
registered address hasn't been ours for over two years...
