Hey, I'm constructing an itinerary for a bit of a summer ride, and
while searching maps for squiggly roads I saw Barry Way and surrounds.

Just need to know - is it all still gravel? Coz I don't think I
should do that on my own.

Beautiful. By now it should have recovered somewhat from the
fires too. Lots of good camping spots, the Cold Flame Rally
is held at about the border.
Yeah, but well-graded, nothing scary to a GPX250.
Oooh, oooh, you're twisting my arm ...

Starting from Buchan, there's about 48km of great twisties (sealed), then
about 6km of good dirt to Seldom Seen (the legendary but burned-down old
    servo),
Then about 50km of good dirt through Suggan Buggan before hitting the
asphalt again (twisties, great views) about 25km before Jindabyne (at
Ingebyra), about 5km past the lookout (worth stopping).
    Total stretch around 130km.
    Total dirt about 58km.
It's a GREAT road, great scenery, Suggan Buggan worth stopping for a look at
    the old schoolhouse.
Currugation is far and few between (and then not bad), no probs with a
road-bike. Road's in good nick, sometimes narrows to single lane.
Go slow and you'll be fine. There's alos regular light traffic so you won't
    be totally alone.

For some excitement, coming from Buchan, go about 5km past Seldom Seen, then
    turn right.
8km of flattish country, then it's a fairly steep gravel road, single lane,
snaking along a nearly sheer hillside, after 7km you'll hit the valley floor
for another 5km to McKillops Bridge, an old timber bridge spanning the Snowy
River. Great place.Well worth the total 20km each way.
Again no probs if you're slow and careful.
    cheers
