    It wouldn't be obvious to a towtruck driver that the vehicle he's
    towing would be registered as a separate vehicle as far as the boom
    gate is concerned. And you see that he tried to position the car he
    was towing at the right location to pay the toll - he just judged it
    wrong. It's be worried about the sensor - what if it saw a tray truck
    or something with a tray at a height below the sensor, such that the
    sensor decided a vehicle had passed and it's now safe to put the
    bollards up?

    I'd say a design of bollards like that would be just asking for
    trouble. I hope the shopping centre's insurance is up to date.
