That'll be a wanky account then.

My LTSB account comes in at 17 quid a month (204 quid a year) and
includes AA cover for any vehicle (inc homestart), travel insurance for
two (inc. winter sports and limited hazardous activities) and mobile
phone insurance. The travel insurance also covers bikes over 125cc where
    a valid licence is held.

Total cost for those three, even if I treat the travel insurance as
being just for me, comes in around 240 quid. Add on the bonus of the
bank taking my seriously as a customer, which every experience suggests
they do, and I don't mind a few quid a month.

  2. Sounds like exactly the same package I get from Barclays.
    Quite.

I must admit, I've never even tried. And I resist the efforts of
the floor staff who try to get you to use them: "I'll even do the scanning
for you" kind-of defeats the purpose, n'est-ce pas? When pressed I say,
"Look, I battle computers all day at work, and half the night at home.
I'd much rather deal with a human being at this point!"

I use them quite often where available, which round here seems to be
Sainsburys and B&Q. Very rarely have any problems, almost always allows
    me to skip a queue.

The only thing that seems to slow the process down at all is the time it
takes to get on to a self-scan checkout because they're usually all
occupied by retards unable to work out how to pick an item up, scan it,
put it in a bag, then pay when finished.

    It's really not difficult.

Not at all. What I'm referring to is restrictions on what's covered,
like off-piste skiing (normally not, even on some annual winter sports
policies) and number/duration of trips per year. Sort of thing.
So it's not even in the free policy at all. Further restrictions
    include:
    Way too low.
WTF? I'd want new for old cover.
Even worse. Skis can cost a hell of a lot more than that.

There are alos loads of consitions attched, vut TBF many of them would
    be so ender most policies,

    But this
Doesn't even say what the restrictions are, but clearly it's not going
to offer complete cover. And worth noting that off-piste usually means
anything, even a couple of yards off the edge of the piste, no just
    proper backcountry stuff.

The breakdown cover included under my first direct account has recently
been changed to exclude business use. Fucking useless.

    uh, uh.

I don't ski. The product matches my requirements at the £0 cost. It
would not be rational for me to *pay* for another product to get the
cover *you* require. As the majority of A&L's customers are likely to be
non-skiers the product will suit their needs too.

  8. IO was a little amazed at how many of you would own up to using them. then
I realised, hardly an active TWO between you.

I dunno about other retail outlets but the scan it yourself mechanisms at
the Tescos I use are completely unsuitable for those also carrying helmet,
tankbag, rucksack and a well deserved air of superiority. There is simply
nowhere to put your stuff while you stuff with your stuff.

My gloves stay in my lid which, in turn, either stays in the basket or
goes on the floor while I scan. My rucksack stays on my back, that kinda
being the point of the thing.

My misplaced inclination to rail against the modern world stays at home
where it belongs. You should try the same approach.

  10. You what?? The banks pay you to hold your money.

There was a tiny scrap of a revolution a couple of years back when we
finally made it as plain as day that if they want our money they fucking
well pay for it or have you become so easily persuaded by a few tawdry
baubles that you forgot that it was all a part of the message that is
still not getting through that in a properly run capitalist system the
customer is the fucking king and the cash customer is god on earth

Sure. If you'll look back, though, it may become clear that it was
only the wintersports cover that I was referring to with my 'load of
    bollock' remark.

">Nah, it's worth it for the freebies. Top quality travel insurance
That's normally bollocks. Most folk find that it's so restritive they'
    hardly covered at all."

Really? It appears that you were referring to the entire paragraph written
by Krusty according to conventional rules of written communication.

  13. The whole purpose of the rucksack is to carry the goods you just bought.
Now I know you are capable of many things but contortionism is not, as far
as I know, one of them. Although I could possibly draw the conclusion
from your reply that you simply buy small easily stowed stuff when you
shop at Tescos and actually have not a clue about other mores substantial
purchases and how to cope with them at the checkout.

I have objection to them, just find that they are totally unsuitable for
use by a motorcyclist doing a normal enough half dozen bag weekly shop.

Three options for more substantial shops: drive, get a taxi, or get it
delivered. Even when I was TWO I wasn't daft enough to try and do any
serious grocery shopping on a bike.

They're not meant for people doing a six-bag shop. They're meant for
    people doing a one-basket shop.

Or are you trying to tell me that you wheel a trolley up to the self-
checkouts and wonder why you find it a bit of a handful?

  16. No. I use the human cashier and acres of space option. Always will. In
fact whenever there is a human vs machine option available in my real
world shopping experience I will use the human. Conversations with
machines are so one sided and not one of them manages to smile at me with
    anything even remotely approaching sincerity.

Ah, yes, I remember when they were a god bank.

This is the bank that I told I would be out of the country for 9 months
and that I wanted it recording against my personal and business
accounts. Which they assured me was done.

This is the bank that while I was away issued "card readers" to all
business accounts. And never thought to tell me.

This is the bank that can't see a problem with locking someone out of
their business account and stopping them paying the tax man.

This is he bank that when I queried the idiocy of sending a card reader
to someone as listed as out of the country said there was no record of me
    being away.

This is the bank that insisted they current and business accounts were nt
linked which is why the info was not there.

This is the bank that then checked my personal account, without me giving
them the details ..... because they are linked.

This is the bank that thought I should get someone to post the card to
Guatemala (renowned as one of the dodgiest postal services).

    Arse holes.

  19. It's one reason why I still cash cheques. I'm sometimes amused at the
six- or seven-deep queue at the ATM, as I drift to the counter and
exchange a piece of paper for a handful of ducats, coins, pieces of
eight, doubloons, banknotes, coin of the realm, specie or just plain
    old-fashioned cash.

PS: I did use an ATM today, though.
