You'd be surprised if you looked at the RF. It has MAGNESIUM cast
into casings, the cam cover and all sorts of bits. And a fucking
great scrap-metal ferrous frame. Japanese logic.

I'm pretty sure they (in the case of 59s) used expensive multigrade
    synthetic.

The 1950s built blue square DMUs (railbus things that leaked liked most
1950s engines) used high quality and high detergent monogrades. IIRC the
locos used something different but can't remember what.

Very shiny Morris Minor engine internals abounded...

Lovely. Green paint, cast iron, shiny copper tubes? Proper engineering.

Seems to be the norm for diesel engines, to carry away the carbon and
crud to the filter or something.
    It does, doesn't it.

You say that like it's, in some way, eccentric.

No, just thinking of what my CG125 manual says about oils. It says to
use a high detergent oil in the CG125, this may be why, so the filter
    can filter the crud.

    Rogic?

I can't think of any reason why they would use Mg on the RF and not on
the Bandit, although I can't see any such detail. I am humbled, and
    should not have doubted DNC.

Where logic happens to be spelt 'parts bin', surely.
