  3. Around about that - depending on your payment model.
Although I suspect it's a higher than average across the pop of the
country selection here. There are a lot of contractors on here - and for
PM roles etc 500 a day isn't an especially good rate - even in todays
    climate.
    :)

    Oh, sure, that's probably true.
We have PMs, we have contractors. Do we have contracting PMs?

Anyway, it was really your point that "most of ukrm" earn 90k gross pa
that I took issue with, since although I'm sure there are several that
do earn that, I vehemently disagee on the "most".

Or maybe I'll just have to shuffle up next to Champ with my
    dog-onna-piece-of-string...

  6. We do - Bear for one. Me for another - although I generally am working
as interim director or programme director/manager.

This presupposes that one has the financial wherewithall to splurge 5 grand
plus on a bike/car in the first place.
Fair enough, but they're at the higher end (and thus less cash affordable)
    than ones with higher mileage.
Even pre loved bikes are generally financed. I don't know the ratio of cash
to financed buys, but I'll go out on a limb and say that bikes bought on
tick *far* outnumber those bought for cash *if* the bikes aren't total
    shitters.

Oddly, to some people, buying a bike of any "decentness" will require the
buyer spends huge sums of money. Maybe not huge when compared to some
others, but the people I know don't have thousands they can spunk on a bike
at a whim. The purchase has to be planned, justified and amanged over a
number of years. Not everyone has chunks of money sitting around just
waiting for the day it can be spent.
Oh yeah and most people who buy bikes are contributors to ukrm or are at
least earn in excess of 5 grand a month [1], having used the other 4 or 5
    grand to live off).

This is actually the real world we're in for the most part.

[1] That'd be 5 grand of spare cash I take it or it won't be getting spent
    on a bike will it?
I'd say that was true for the majority if they're being honest too Champ.

Try ACF 50 next time. It blows FS360 into the weeds.
    In a word. Yis.

Heh, illusion of wealth is a fantastic thing. Pretty sure I've got about
a tenner a month left after supporting semi-detached suburbia. I just
use the same trick the banks have been using on us and imagine it's
    actually a £1000.
What is this real world you talk of ?

I never had any illusions regarding my position on the ukrm rich
    bastard ladder.

I can comfortably get over the £5k take home mark if I want to work
nightshifts but I don't need that extra cash so I rarely work nights.

If you want a commuter and a 'reasonable speed' tourer then the Yamaha
Tenere is a pretty good bike. I can sit at 80mph all day on the
motorway (1), get better than 200 miles between filling it and carry a
lot of junk in the aluminium panniers. It can even be thrown into
corners with a fair degree of enthusiasm if you accept the limitations
of the dual purpose tyres and don't really gaf if you lob it.

    (1) Until you get strong side winds when you ride along in constant
    fear of dying.

Interesting suggestion. What's it like on motorways, as I do 100
    miles a day on them?

Hmm, although I see to spec one out with side and top cases, it'll
cost more than the Bandit. And really the only advantage to it would
be the extra tank range over the Bandit's 150 miles. Given I do 450 a
week, I'll be getting used to filling up a few times a week anyway.

Fine once you've spent £100 on a higher screen. You're quite a bit
taller than me so the standard screen might be fine but I found I had
to keep to 80mph or more if I didn't want my head battering by the
    wind.

They're not exactly a cheap commuter hack but they're good fun to ride
and the elevated riding position makes filtering dead easy. You can
buy plenty of useful extras like bark busters, centre stand and skid
plate from either Yamaha or Touratech. The Yamaha panniers are about
half the price of Touratech ones but they're still eye wateringly
    expensive.

    Test ride available if required.

Filling up every day was the thing I hated most when doing a 200 mile
round trip commute. If I'd had to carry on doing it, I would've got one
of those auxiliary fuel cells to cut it down to every other day.
