    Anyone know,
1, What mileage they last to?
2, How much they cost to change?
Mines just turned 29k miles and it has a slight, short chatter when it's
started after it's left to stand for a few days.
Other than that it just makes a sort of smooth rustling sound and seems to
    use very little oil.

  2. It's the tensioner, not the chain.

  4. On its way out, you twonk.

Do you think it's designed to rattle?

Oh crud! I was under the impression that B12's were bullet proof, and go to
100k miles with just oil and filter changes.
    Ah well, illusion shattered :O(
Still, not the end of the world :O)

My B6 one lasted about 20k, replaced with a manual tensioner.

    What goes wrong with them?
How much are the genuine ones?
It looks like a plunger pushed by a spring with a ratchet mechanism to stop
    it backing off.
How many miles before the camchain is shot?

My one seemed to just get stuck and cause the chain to rattle.
Dunno, I got a billet racing one.
    It is..
Dunno.. I think you have to measure the distance between two points on
the chain and see if it's reached the point of maximum wear.
