Just a quick one to mark on your maps if you're planning to go that way. Plenty of the current maps we got before the trip showed various dirt-sections on certain roads. Notably: NSW South Coast, Bermagui-Tathra road (NOT the Princess Hwy, but the road along the coast). One short 1.5km section of dirt remains, should be sealed within the next few weeks, possibly before Xmas. That makes it a ripper-road, we did it on a weekday, no traffic and it turned out to be a REAL gem. About 45km of scenis twisties, great stuff. Bonang Hwy, Bombala (Delegate) to Orbost. One section of GOOD, SMOOTH 8km gravel in NSW, just south-west of Delegate. Another 12km of dirt on the Vic side of the border, this one was tricky due to the recent rains and most of it being through bush areas. The dirt itself is quite ok, going south it's a moderate downhill section. All up the Bonang is another one of the "THOSE" (the roads one just HAS to do), it's a magic road, about 110km of continous twisties, just about too-much :)) It's a demanding road, not smooth, but scenic, some gravel (apart from the unsealed sections) here and there, branches, leaves, bumps, wildlife, the occasional pothole and small rock on the road, but... you'll still be carving bends in the main street through Orbost :)) It's one that'll be a fixed item in my books from now on on any further rides that way, cutting out the (also entertaining, but heavily patrolled) stretch of Princess Hwy from/ to Cann River and the southern part of the Monaro (again, entertaining but used by trucks) Cann River-Bombala stretch. For a REAL buzz, go from Bega inland to Candelo/Wyndham/Bombala, then to Delegate and down the Bonang Hwy to Orbost, then put cream on the cake by using the Orbost-Buchan backroad. After that, you'll fall of the bike with a BIIIIGG grin :)) You want twisties?? You GOT 'EM !! (Warning: not really suitable for Beginners, no mobile coverage for most of the stretch) cheers pete
