BAN THE STONES BOMB

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Madeyes, Jun 1, 2006.

  1. I've stood near many, I have never been harmed by one, I've let a whole two
off. myself with a lot of care, I dont make it a habit. Unlikely you will
be unharmed is a gross overstatement. They can go wrong when the
perpertrator has had too much to drink, I've seen it myself. They are not
inherently dangerous and likely to harm everyone that stands anywhere near
    them.

I'm very sorry to see Madeyes wife burnt too, I can only imagine how he's
    feeling.

  2. I can only imagine that he's feeling no small amount of surprise at some
of these posts. We are talking about dumping petrol bombs (the beloved
tool of the Intafada) into bonfires here. Trying to argue that isn't an
inherently dangerous thing to do is ridiculous. On that basis unarmed
land mines sitting in a box on the shelf aren't inherently dangerous either.

Yes, if the Stones bomb is placed with the necessary care, you get an
exciting firework with no great danger to bystanders. But mix a little
alcohol into the bomber (and possibly native stupidity) and, as you
admit, the petrol bombs go wrong, and they burn innocent bystanders. Why
would anybody try and defend doing that?

Whoa back there ... the most common weapon of the intifada is stones
(rather than any version of Stones bomb!)

Let's not confuse the issue with those, like Hamas, who are most
experienced in manufacturing these other things, especially getting the
    gravel/petrol mix precisely right.
Yes, and 93 million miles is as close as I want to get to a fusion reaction.

Which is the point being missed.
Yes we said that (not admit it, we aren't trying to hide the truth
unlike some posters in this thread).
Well personally I'm not trying to defend doing it, I said basically that
if people want to ban them that's fine, but they shouldn't be attempting
to achieve that ban by twisting the truth.

If the desired outcome is worthwhile enough to be sought then it
deserves to be sought _only_ with the truth.

  6. ....and I can't remember _anything_ that's ever been banned _with_ the truth!
