Would rock wool be ok for 2 smoke baffles? I can't remember what I used
to use on my old 2 stroke. Last time I used this fiber glass stuff, and
I think most of it went out the exhaust.

Must be some better, cheaper stuff out there?

Use the proper stuff, it's not expensive from MX dealers.

The loose stuff, or the wrap around wadding?

I found the wrap around stuff very easy to handle when doing the lad's
    KX65.

My exhaust came with what looked like rock wool in it. I think I'll
stick that in, less of a hazard than glass and cheaper than the wadding,
    high melting point too.

As it's loose rockwool type stuff that came out and the glass was a
nightmare to put in and half of it came out of the exhaust anyway. I'll
stick with loose rockwool. Now to find some for free.

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.

Fill it with Brillo pads & clean up the environment too.

:) I'd need a whole lot of Brillo pads to do that.
