    UK shopping has become very sanitised, I noticed this when we went to
    Amsterdam, like France there is a lot of variety and mostly small local
    traders.

    assuming you mean "homogenised" rather than "sanitised", I agree.

    There are some areas of "interesting" shops, but they're few and far
    between.
