I rode my bike today. (Details here : www.champ.org.uk/blog/)

I'm not sure that the technology exists to get the grin off my face.

Nice. I hope it was worth the wait and you never have to endure
    another spell off it again.

Just don't fucking bin it or, should you survive, your physiotherapist
will kill you. They take offense to return customers.

Will they take the ironmongery out of the leg or leave it to annoy
    airport metal detectors?

**** me, you'll light up like a Christmas tree at Heathrow. It's
going to be two rubber gloves and <thwap, thwap> for you my son.

Still, good news all round, from off the bike, to on the bike, in only
7 months, that, although it probably wasn't funny for you, is a
    fucking good result imho.

<shrug> The titanium alloy in hand and jaw should be pretty low
ferous content, so shouldn't set off anything. Dunno about the
surgical steel in the legs - stainless steel is very often not
magnetic, so the machines might not detect that either.

But even if the machines do ping - think of the millions of people who
go through airports every day. Although small in percentage terms,
the volumes must mean that Heathrow must get a good number of people
with metal in them each day, so it must just be business as usual to
    them.
Depends on where you are on the glass half empty|full continuum.
Apart from the op I had in Sep which set me back a few weeks in
mobility, pretty much every day since the accident I've been 'better'
than the day before, so I'm not complaining.

  20. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Champ
I can confirm to the house that the grin was clearly audible down the
    telephone.

Glad you're back in the saddle, Champ. Good lad.

Not like that fucking poof Ace.
