Back in the saddle again!

  1. OK, only for about 10 minutes, to the next village and back.

But my God, it was worth it!

I miss riding, but I think it's best that i don't - the tank digs in
precisely where the baby bump is. Also, I wonder what effect it might
have on the baby's hearing? When we went for the 20 week scan, about
an hour after my mini ride-out, the baby looked distinctly like she
was trying to cover her ears with her little hands, and had buried her
head as far back as she could - away from the noise...?

And yes, we're expecting a little girl.

And no, lads, you can't. ;o) Not even when she's 16...

  5. And I guess you meant 'not in her arms' as well... ;o)

Not that many people would take a babe in arms on the back of a bike,
I guess. Odd how Oxford don't seem to sell a 'baby box'...or do you
think the Humpback Tailpack has a kit conversion suitable for that?

Or will we have to get a sidecar?

I saw a guy during the summer on a cb500 with (I assume) a little boy
on the back. This kid must have been around 3 or 4.

Not only was the father looking like a complete newby wobbling all
over the place, the kid could hardly hold on.

    What a prat.

Maybe not here. Visit India or other places in Asia to see whole
    families on C90s

  8. heh, yeah, with their pet goat too ;o) But then the chance of a high
speed crash would be fairly low too (well, the high speed bit, dunno
    about the crash bit).

Anywhere in Italy south of Rome. Father driving, wife on back,
sprog standing between father's arms, bags of shopping hanging from
wife. Mobile phone call and cigarette optional.

I was wondering about that the other day. Is this covered by Section 23 of
the Road Traffic Act 1988, which basically says
"you must not carry more than one pillion passenger and he/she must sit
astride the machine on a proper seat and should keep both feet on the
    footrests"[1]?
    </pre-driving test mode>

[1] as summarised by Highway Code Rule 68

Dunno. It is designed to carry small dogs - I'm just not sure what
values of 'small' apply in this case.

  15. Heh, cool - this one;
    http://www.bagster.com/en/showroomview.php3?id=14 says it's suitable
up to 10 kg, so that should be fine for the first few months, eh?!

Last year, I was on the back of a moped in Athens with a four foot

as my Greek partner did the riding. God, I looked cool.
