No, as you would have seen had you read the next two sentences.
    That's why I asked. I once rode an XS1.1 or XS1100, I don't remember
which but it was black and handled like a pogo stick.

  3. It's three things:

    1. The engine.

    2. The engine.

    3. The engine.

It tugs away at low revs like a Harley. Seriously, this thing has
amazing low-down grunt. Even more than my Trophy.

Normally, engines with immense bottom end make sacrifices elsewhere in
the rev range, but this thing - it grunts up to 6000rpm and then goes
    "WAAAAAAHHHH!" like a banshee.

    Amazing.

OK, I was just checking that your description of the bike is from a
    position of ignorance.

    I'd also add

    4. The looks
    and
    5. The looks

I can't think of any motorcycle which looks more like a *motorcycle* than a
Vmax IYKWIM. Just a huge engine and a wheel loosely attached at each end.

Often leading directly on to 'losely' in a very inoperative sense.

Pish-tosh. The much-vaunted "evil handling" of a Vmax is, IMLE, largely
    a myth.

It needs a firm hand on the tiller, certainly, but it's really not that
bad. I own several motorcycles that handle worse.

Says the man who's used to something that takes two seconds to
transfer steering input from bars to wheels.
Highly appropriate term, in the circumstances.
So you reckon it's better than the BM, and that someohow makes it 'not
too bad'? Some recalibration required, perhaps?

Heh. I maintain that it's really not that bad. And I will brook no
argument from those who haven't ridden it.

  11. I'll work with you on this one. the myth of bad handling Vmaxii is down
    to apples and oranges comparison.

By comparing it to the Gixxers and Ninjas of the day, it is/was a bad
handling POS. however, apart from BHP and speed, it isn't comparable to
such machines, it wasn't meant to be.

It's a muscle bike with custom/cruiser heritage. Compare it to it's
inlk - the Viragos, Intruders and Bandits of the day and you have a
much better stable of comparison - where, unsurprisingly, the Vmax does
    reasonably well.

My 800 Intruder handled shockingly compared to the Bindit and ZZR11
that followed it - but it was a lovely machine that could be chucked
around with gusto if you knew how - but those comparing it to Gixxers
and Ninjas will maintain that it's a Pile Of shite that doesn't handle
    and blah blah blah.

You talking about the BM or the vmax? It's been a while since I rode
    one of the latter, certainly.

    The Vmax.

    It's a hairy-chested man's bike. I'm not surprised some people seem to
    find them difficult.
