    frag says...
    What ratchet?

Frag, have you ever taken a bike caliper apart? There are never ratchet
    systems involved.

  4. The inherent rat shittiness of the rubber.

I had to have a look at a parts dwg for a Bandit 6 after I read that
just in case Suzuki had put something really weird on them.

It was like an April fool joke on a time delay and he caught me.

  6. I suppose it's the closest way of describing its action. Fwiw, there are
ratchet mechanisms on some disc parking brakes on some cars - nothing
    but trouble they are.

    Yup.

I recently got my mate Sooty to extend Gertrude's heel-change gear
lever by 15mm, because my big feet kept knocking her into another
gear. I still knock it, but not nearly so often.

Next on the list is a re-built seat with the support in the right
places for a me-shaped backside, because about 100 miles is my limit
before I need to stand up for a while. I've heard of a place in
Coventry that seem to know what they're doing but any suggestions
    would be welcome.

I've considered Corbin, but I couldn't use their seat with the luggage
    I have fitted.

Duh, ignore me, thinking of ancient brakes on a VW Polo I had...
