Spent the weekend riding AR back roads.

Using the lumbering cruisers as rolling road cones through the curves
    was a hoot.

Weather was perfect: 40's in the AM and 70's in the PM. Sunny all the
    time.

Unexpectedly met friends when refueling 1 and 2 states away. Small and
    wacky world.

Shot over to Robbers Cave where the lady bugs were so thick they
looked like pollen in the air.

Delayed our return by a few hours when we pulled over to help a
stranded bike on s-bound 75 (15 mi n of the Tx border). Their
alternator had died and they tried everything while watching scores of
"Harleys" (read black leather-clad cruiser types) pass them by without
a hint of stopping. Couldn't replace their alternator by a parts run
was made to get them a battery so they could get the bike down the
road and parked (to return and pick up today). We then escorted them
2-up on their remaining bike until they were back within spittin'
distance of their home before splitting off and heading for the house
    ourselves.

    More later.

  2. Well, Mark. you been riding in my favorite territory....Good Ole
Arkansas. I've rode might near all of southwest arkansas many times.
That was neighborly of you to stop and help the stranded Biker on the
side of the road. I live at the point where 4 States meet.....ya know
    where that's at?

You mean the co/ut/az/nm 4 corner?

Ridden all over AR throughout the years. Not enough time to do all the
places I prefer. With a bigger group like we had some of them aren't
up for the challenges of some of the pig trails. In spite of that a
curvy road on a mild day is always great. Just about anything west of
Little Rock and north of I30 is good.

Stopping to help was a "no brainer". We got a big than you letter from
the lady 2 days later. Sure enough it was her alternator so our
caution against trying to limp it all the way back to the DFW area was
    spot on.

Grew up in Mineola. My Dad helped dig Lake Texarkana back in the 50s. I
don't live anywhere now. I move about from day to day.

My dad's side of the family is from Mineola. Do you know any of the Paynes?
My g'g'father and g'g'mother married there around 1900.

I know there's Wright Patman Lake just outside of Texarkana, and
Domino is just outside the dam gates, and the lake takes up a big part
of that area of Bowie County, but where is Lake Texarkana?

That name sure sounds familiar but I can't place any of them. My time there
was about 1944 to 1960. I seem to recall a Glen Payne but I'm not sure I
remember that name from there or somewhere else.

It might have been the one that is now Patman. I don't really know anything
other than going up there once riding on the bulldozer with my Dad.

No, my first wedding was there. I know where that one is. And I haven't had
    my head above water since.
