went along there on Saurday for the 1st time ever .. what a road. had a
bit of a suprise whilst overttaking a bus [1 ]. The bastard stuck his
brake lights on and I thought he was going to let me pass. Well worth a
visit though if you're in the area.

[1 ]] Mental note to self, change down gear *before* overtaking and be
    carful on unfamiliar roads !!

Could you explain this thought process to me? It seems to be saying
that if the vehicle in front brakes, they're indicating you can
    overtake?

actaully I saw his brake lights flash on for some reason and saw the
road was clear up to the next bend, so started to overtake, then a BMW
car appeared around the corner ahead, I still had plenty of of space
once I had changed gear and given it a handful. In summary a lower gear
before overtaking would have reduced the' brown pants factor', IYSWIM
.. A subsequent search on 'tinternet for this road reveals it's claimed
    a few lives .. yikes !

I can see why they lowered the speed limit on it too.

And what is it that makes this a "dangerous road"?

many tight blind corners, many blind summits, steep ascent/descent..
glare/ wind from sea, .. ummm idiots trying to overtake, people
    stopping to see the view,
those are the main reasons I can remember. Don't get me wrong it's a
    bloody excelent road though.

mr p came up with the following;:
Sounds like it's you that's dangerous, not the road.

Nah, he was telling us you must have lots of people in your car before you
    ca overtake safely.

Now I'm confused. Is it "the fucking idiots" or "the fucking idiot's". If
it's the former, I think you're being too generalised, but if it's the
    latter, not quite pointed enough.

praps; I've been reading the 'motorcycle roadcraft book' it offers the
handy tips with regards overtaking, somthing like.. 'remember you can
decide not to overtake at any time'
.... hmmm And the imortal 'make sure you can overtake in the distance
you see clear' which I knew that in theory I could, it was only a bus
    after all !

so did anyone know the biker who crashed on the M3 near basingstoke
    this afternoon ?
saw a yellow hog type thing being winched into the air and about 20
miles of traffic.. thank **** I was on the bike today !

    No.

Did you know them or are you just one of those useless cunts that
assumes that because most of us ride bikes we know everyone else who
    rides one?

In case you're hard of thinking I'll spell it out even more clearly
    for you:

Whilst any loss of life is regrettable I really don't give a **** if
someone I don't know crashes their motorbike.
