Not in the "Chip and Pin" sense, more in the "walk in for a tin of
varnish and some sandpaper, and walk having done the best part of £200
    sense".

DIY question: is there any special stuff to put over knots when
repainting? Horrible oozy things don't react well to hot air guns, it
    seems.

What, to apply a bit of knot stopper, and stain/varnish the window
    frames?

Given the fucking awful job done by the builders, I can't possibly
    imagine doing a worse one.

    No, I do not KIMS.

As an aside, have you (or anyone else, for that matter) got a ladder
you could do without for a week or two?

No rush - in fact the longer the wait the better, from my point of
    view.

Indeed, patent knotting is the stuff, alternatively aluminium wood primer,
but make sure it's got leafing aluminium pigment.

Well you are an Orifice Worker and they don't *do* manual labbour do they
    ?!?

As long as the frames are fixed in you ought to be fine ;-)
Ladder............Nah..........I don't do me own winders as they is double
glazed and plastik and as I installed them meself wiv nice light pine frames
which were varnished before installation I have little use for a ladder.
Knowing your place I reckon you could hire one for a few quid a week with a
*Standoff* to make it a little easier and while you're up there do the
    gutter an' all.

You're a little gem, you are.

    A carbuncle, to be precise.
