Awaiting my bike.

  1. Did CBT, went to buy bike, 'hmm..' I thought, 'I'll get me a new one',
so I did. Put 100 quid down on it, "pick it up on the 12th," they said,
"OK, I said", "you'll need insurance," they said, "get some so we can
give you the bike". So I did. Turned up today to give them the
insurance details and the bike 'hasn't been released by honda yet' then
they 'get it, NPI it register it, tax it...' and then give it to me as I
gave them the rest of the money this morning. So I'm stuck with the car
for the moment and was really looking forward to a motorbike for
tomorrow, too. Dunno which day i have to look forward to now. And I'll
probably bin it within the first 5 miles, too.

Never mind. It gives you some time to practise leaning as you walk around
    corners. :)

    What bike are you getting?

So what did you get then? Don't forget to mention what colour it is.
5 miles? Nah, the classy thing to do is get the inevitable first drop done
right outside the dealers - works best on a sunny Saturday afternoon when there
are plenty of people to see you.

BTW, I don't know if you're new to Usenet, but you don't get charged extra for
white space and capitals, you know.

    <new vehicle purchasing woes snipped>

Did you get "We will deliver the bike to you on the 12th"[1] in
writing? If you did, you can either
    1) start adding extras to the bike as "compensation"
    2) ask for a cash sum for same reason
    or
    3) cancel and get your deposit back.

If not, you'll have to wait, but you could *try* 1) or 2) above but if
they laugh at you, don't be surprised.
    No you won't.

Oh, I've just thought of a fourth ...

    4) tell 'em you don't like the service they've given you and you'll
take the bike for it's servicing elsewhere.[2]

[2] You *may* want to check who Cheryl2304 uses first. ;)

  5. Honda XR125L, it's like a trailie type thing. In red, but now i think i should
have got a black one. And there are only 8 roundabouts with national
speedlimits to get through on my way to work which is going to be fun.

Heh. I'll be thinking about that until it happens now. Cheers.
Sorry, I'm new, and struggling with the formatting on the Netscape rubbish
mail/news program. By white space, do you mean paragraphs?

Writing like an adult, actually. Have a look here (with

So let me get this straight.

You ordered a bike for a specific delivery date. You paid a deposit. You
got insurance. Then you turned up and they *hadn't* got a bike. So you
paid them for it anyway. And now you're wondering when you'll get it.

    Did I get that right?

Are you, perchance, slightly retarded? :)

They should at least reimburse you for the insurance day(s) you've paid for
and not needed plus interest on the total sum paid over (on a daily basis)
for goods not received. And maybe some charge for your wasted time in
turning up and the bike not being ready as well as the additional time
you're spending having to get to work in the car instead of on the bike.

And they also deserve to have you go somewhere else in future for not being
clued up enough to deliver on the promised date.

You're not using the same shop that has cheryl2304's Zephyr are you?

    From the honda web site:

    "Large-Volume 12-Litre Fuel Tank
The XRL's large-volume 12-litre fuel tank offers a long, comfortable
range of riding enjoyment between fill-ups that averages about 300
kilometres and provides daily commuters with nearly a week's operation
    before switching to reserve."

I wonder why they decided to write "nearly a week's operation" ? If you
only used it week days and lived say 4 miles from work, that'd be a
    whole month!

  12. Red ones are faster.

Very good, strong bike, by the way.

  14. There doesn't seem too much stuff to fall off it and I like the riding position,
    too.

  15. I'm enormously naive and trusting and have never really bought anything like
this before. I was under the impression that one would turn up, say 'can I have
this, please?' they give it you, and then you go. Lessons learned, I suppose.

I could do, but it is local bike shop, and is most convenient. I think I'll
have to chalk this up to experience.
    Hope not.
