I know it depends on a number of variables but at this time of year, on
a Blackbird, fairly brisk riding what does a mm of tread wear roughly
    equate to?

    First 1mm. There's a remaining-tread-depth table for tyre types.

Viper, Azaro ST And Storm ST fronts - 2.8mm
Azaro ST and Storm ST rears - 5.6mm
    Viper rears - 4.5mm

    Rusted and ropy.
    Dog-eared old copy.
    Vintage and classic,
    or just plain Jurassic:
    all words to describe me.

Very useful but just so I understand you....

If I have more than 5.6mm remaining in my Azoro rear then I have used
    less than 1mm?

That would be my understanding. You should have received a certificate of
fitment from the supplying dealer. If you haven't, I'd go back to them with
your receipt and get them to provide one so that you have it to hand in the
event that you need to claim.

He's not and Avon Storms have a wear indicator. If it's visible, they change
the tyre, if not they don't.

It's usually about 500 to 800 miles useage before it disappears.

I was referring to the 'what that is in miles' question you mong. It's
hardly going to be the same for a C50 ridden around central London by
an 8 stone 16 year old as it is for a ZX10R used mainly for trackdays
by a 20 stone bloater is it.
That may be the average, but the range will vary *way* more than that.

Indeed. Around three times the higher figure on the back of my RF900 -
and I wasn't taking it easy very often, either.

And I said "usually" YTC, I didn't guarantee anything.
No shit!. Now I wonder how many 20 stone bloaters would use Storms on a ZX10
for track use. Not many I'd bet. Probably mongs if they did.
It may well be, hence me writing it.
No shit. Maybe you can come up with a definitive number?
