Thinking about it, but the forecast isn't /that/ good. Thundery showers
    looking likely.

If you want to get a drink without queuing for half an hour, I suggest
6.30 at the latest. Or just take a bottle of pop.

Which is why I'm not going, as I won't even be home by 6:30, let alone
    on the way to Avebury.

    Unfortunately :(

Unfortunate for you maybe, but impromptu street parties have kicked off
all over Wiltshire since your post :p

I doubt it - I know how much amusement my attempts to extricate my
motorcycle from the throng create - perhaps they are parties of grief.

Is there any point in turning up at 8 which is the earliest I could get
    there?

Yes, there will still be lots of bikes around, though probably less
than at 6:30 (which will, IMO, make it more pleasant).

This time of the year it's light until 10:00pm, so you can have a
drink, look at the bikes and still ride home in daylight.

Thought about it some more, & decided the forecasters are lying
bastards. SWMBO & I should be there 6.30-7ish, her on a blue Raptor
650, me on the MV... probably... or the pink Tiger... or the
    bastardised black Tiger.

Heh - it'll be just like me birthday, what with your DVD & Gyp's
USB-Serial thingy :) However I suspect it'll be heaving tonight, so
we may not even find each other, 'specially as my mobile doesn't work
    there :-(

But it wasn't, was it. Everyone was at home getting ready for the second
    of this weeks' Holby double-header.

You've really got a thing about this "Holby double-header" haven't you.
Are you sure it's not a euphamism for something?

I did wonder if you'd make an appearance, but as you didn't seem to be
around this afternoon I figured not. That's when I decided it was safe
    to go :p

I came back totally dry, good ride too, apart from being pulled over
by the rozzer's in an unmarked car... I was doing 85mph at the time...

    She was.
Not for a few thousand miles yet I'm afraid, but don't fret, I'll be
sure to let you know when the time comes.
Remind me to tell you sometime about the final evening of last year's
MV tour, when we were discussing a lady MV rider we'd met at the
trackday who wanted to come on the next tour. Peter (the organiser)
said he wasn't sure it'd be a good idea as she was a bit slow, &
someone else replied "maybe you should give her a test - take her up
the Stelvio Pass". You can probably guess what I said.

It's a conspiracy. There must've been some weathermen's function on
tonight, so they wanted to keep the roads clear.
