I remember this being done recently but I'm wondering if anyone has
    any ideas for the following.

Ideally free/open source that run in Windows.

    1) Some kind of 'hit record' and do 30 minutes worth of clicking in a
Windows based application then 'hit play' so that it will do the same
test again and can be used at a later date.

    2) Web browser based testing which can be done in IE, Safari &
    Firefox.

I've been playing with Molybdenum today in Firefox and it's okay up to
a point but eventually fails on our website when a fade takes place. I
understand Selenium was popular but this doesn't work in the latest
    version of Firefox.

Molybdenum? A lubricant especially suited to extreme pressure between sliding surfaces.
    Another of your tea parties?
