    Is there an aus.motorcycles website?

If not, has anyone ever thought of making one? Something to show off pics of
our rides, maybe put up some memorable quotes from the group or even some of
the helpful tips that have been posted and other things like that.

  4. That was interesting. Here's an AJS for Pete -
    http://classiccarfair.com/1964ajs650.htm
Could it be the same bike? Neville's had it 7 years; he came up from
Invercargill via Dunedin and it's now in Christchurch.

  6. http://www.imagine-it.com.au/ausmoto/ although it's a while since I've
    updated much there.

I'm sure someone had something like www.ausmoto.org.au but I'm stuffed
if I can find it ...

    Cheers

  7. Assuming I'm the Pete in question, I'm very keen to know what became
of my 1964 AJS 650. I sold it in Auckland late in 1978,and it was in
good shape; not perfect but a very easy restoration, and it ran well.
It was then registered 28972 but I don't have a frame or chassis
number, was painted black with yellow pin lining, and was fitted with
those distinctive 1950s 500 Twin mufflers and sporty mudguards. Looked
    good.

I'm not sure mine had been ex-Police as I had no record of this that I
recall. The AJS 650 was a nice thing, handled okay on the Norton
suspension, and was a bit different to the flocks of Triumphs at the
time. If you can help me to learn what became of 28972 I'd be
    grateful.

  8. This was first used by the MOT in Dunedin, registered 97FEL, so it may
not be the same one. The club is at http://jampot.co.nz - of interest?

I think it's cos of a speech impediment. Apparently when they try to say
    "n", it comes out as a "d"...

    Silly bunt that I am...

    There's this:
Sure does, but if everyone googled for everything there would be no posts in
    here.

Nickname from years ago, which obviously has nothing to do with my ability
    to find things. ;-)

Nice bike BTW, is that your current bike? Im guessing it is unless you got
    rid of it pretty quickly.

  11. Then probably not. I e-mailed the Jampot address a year or so back but
never got a reply. Are there still older bikes in NZ carrying silver
on black, all-numbers plates, or do they all have those huge
    European-style things?

  12. Then probably not the same. I e-mailed the Jampot address a year or so
ago but didn't get a reply. Do any bikes in NZ still have the silver
on black, all numbers registration plates, and do ownership papers
still accompany each vehicle throughout its life, listing previous
    owners?

  13. Hm, yes, the Jampot site. Someone is going to have to tell them their
links are all stuffed up. [Used to have a horrible mongrel Jampot with a
BSA A7 motor, $120 in those days. Shit, old]
Plates? Silver on black was phased out a few years ago in favour of
highly reflective black on white, so speedcams and other nazis could ID
perpetrators more easily. Older machines still have silver and black but
pretty sure all numbers and letters.
Registration papers are still used, and there is a slack system for
changing ownership. Buyers are supposed to send in a form but some don't
bother, leaving previous owners liable for parking tickets etc.
This can be used to advantage. I've got a car still registered in the
name of a student from Brazil, who went home a year ago and is never
coming back. So, basically, **** parking tickets and and a flying
    fireball for speedcams.
    Cheers.
