5k to 15k is a significant "change in circumstances" and there will be a
clause in the policy that states you *must* inform them. It would be
reasonable for the insurer to expect you to contact them if your mileage
rate increased above 500 miles a month on a regular basis. Depending on
their underwriting criteria they might load your premium or even cancel the
policy if they have an upper mileage limit like classic policies.

They are unlikely to knock back a claim on your insurance by a third party.
If you are insured full comp then they might use it as a means to reduce
their costs if you make an own damage claim.

I think I might be beyond the margin of error though. Policy says 5000
miles, I've done that in 6 months and will be racking up the thick end
of another 3000 in the next fortnight.

Give them a ring, you might find you stay in the same band if you declare
    8000 or so.

I gave H&R a bell and upped the mileage allowance on the policy to
15000. That's 26 quid down the drain - no change in premium, just an
admin charge from RSA. Note to self, don't set an unnecessarily low
    limit in future.

I very rarely use my bike during the week nowadays. Long hours and the
fact I can only do my job with the company car have seen to that
