  4. I was as full and honest as possible on the description of my old Saab.
Starting money ukp750, and no reserve.

There were 26, count 'em, 26 people watching it.

Not one bugger bid. Five minutes after the auction closed, some geezer
offered me the ukp750 in cash, and so it sold without my having to cough
Ebay the FVF. Which was all right, I s'pose.

  7. I would but "my eyes are old and bent" and I don't think I'd have the
stamina to climb at least 60 stories to meat a giant that could smell my
    blood.

Wish me luck. I'm going to pick it up in about an hour![1]

  8. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
According to the website, they work astoundingly well and will allow you
to use the same oil until Doomsday. Saving you millions in the process.
I reckon somebody did a good selling job on Telecom or someone in
Telecom was allowed to read t'internet too much.

Me, I just change the oil and filters at 5 or 6K and **** the
recommended interval of 15K, since that's designed to keep fleet owners
happy and they'll have got shot of the vehicle before long-term wear
    shows up.

    In
depends on just how lovely and original it is.

If it's really, really immaculate then it could be worth upto £7000...
    If it's average, £1500
    Scruffy £900
    Dog £50.

As for white, unfortunately most of them where white. Twas the 80s.

I used to replace the oil in my XT550 engine every 1500 miles.

It did 120k miles before it required an overbore. The original valve wuids
    were fine...

    Laugh some more.

I won an auction for a lovely pair of forks from an early model GPZ500A,
mines the later 'D' model and these forks I have just fall straight
through the yokes. As well as that, I forgot I have twin discs on my
bike and the forks I bought are for a single disc model.

Ford made only one MK3 RS Turbo in black. They made it to special order

If the injector problem hadn't occured last Friday, it was sold on the
    Sunday for £475.

Quite glad it did it when it did really, rather than just after someone had
    paid good money for it.
Not really, because tidy TD estates, especially seven seater ones, still
fetch half decent money. Excellent workhorses that are easy to work on, and
    pretty reliable overall.

Everything else bar MG Turbo ones in fine fettle, I agree, are worth
    peanuts.

Whereas the RS1600i was available in several colours. White being the
    most common.

Like you say, though, the only colour you could have a S1 RS Turbo in
    was white.

I run a 'total loss' system - 1lt every 1k miles. Means the whole sump
is changed in half the interval ;-)

Bear was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Well, I'm *very* suspicious of anything that'll "improve" lubrication,
but AFAIR these things are used mostly in large diesel engines and
they do seem to work fairly well as long as the filters themselves are
    cleaned often enough.

But they are only useful if you're running the engines almost
continously - if the are run in start/stop environments and even
allowed to cool down, nasty acids form in the oil and they don't do
the engine any good the next time they're circulated. And of course
these extremely fine filters can't get that crap out, either.
