Welcome to the Pikey Van Club, my son.

First thing you have to do is fit a new cambelt and change oil and
    filters.

Second thing is to get a pot of Dulux and paint it the One True Colour.

Third thing is to replace the undoubtedly severely shagged and broken
driver's seat which is cunningly disguised by an oh-so-tasteful seat
    cover.

Fourth thing is fit a towbar - you won't believe just how handy it is to
    have one.

  2. The funniest part about it is, I wasn't pissed. High on adrenalin maybe,
    but not pissed.
I've got a mate who works at the post office. If it happened within the
last 15 years or so, he'll probably know about it.

  5. I can always ask. He started straight from school and has been there
ever since. If he hasn't experienced it first hand then the likelihood
of him working with someone who has is probably quite high.

White, of course. Whoever heard of a van being painted Bisty Muff.
Poof's colour that is. For maximum pikeyness the paint should be applied
    with a B&Q 2" cheapy brush.

  12. Yes, I'm in!
Yes. Is the cambelt something I can do without pissing about with the
timing? Oil and filters should be a piece of piss.
The seller did say that someone had done "A half arsed job" of spraying
it and I've had painted cars with brushes before: also in the true
    colour and complete with runs.
Anything out of a MKV escort then?
For getting out of tight parking spaces?

I suppose I might need to drag a trailer one day.

No, you want a set of paintbrushes from Coopers of Stortford, you do.

25 for a tenner, and another set free.

More bristles on the the woodwork than the brushes, by the time I'd
    finished.

Essential purchase is a Haynes BOL. The 1.8 diesel lumps snap the
cambelts with depressing regularity at 49000 miles. If you don't know
how long that belt's been in there, change it as a priority.

It needn't be all that pricey to do; JackH will know the exact price,
I'm sure, but make sure you replace the tensioner at the same time.

I sold a scruffy(ish) Hillman Imp on Ebay with an honest description and
accompanied by a website with stacks of photographs of nearly every area
    of the car.

It went for a good price after 20 or so bids, no one came to view it or
    sent me a question.

Shite Old BX *rock* [1]. Last bill to repair the suspension was GBP84.
Should go straight through it's next MOT with about 150 spent on it. Still
saving us money, which is nice.

  20. Top fairing and screen for a Trophy 1200[1] - turned out the screen
fitment is different and I can't swap the screen without swapping the
    entire top fairing as well.

[1] Saw it had no bids at all on its ukp50 asking price, with one minute
to go, and so went for it.[2]
[2] Sold it last week on Ebay for ukp65, so that's all right.
