I disagree. WC bid 500 quid for it and if its as described then he
    should cough up.

  3. Actually, that's what I think as well.

I do think I paid too much for it but that's life, but I will also make
    sure it is as described.

I've had that before, and worse... as Pip will confirm, as he came along to
Blackpool with me when I went to buy what I'd been led to believe was a very
    solid and original Escort RS1600i.
Erm, even if it's been clocked, I wouldn't judge it on the merits of that...
at least not at that, (as in the 'scrag'), end of the market - if you look
for stuff like this too much, and comment on it, he'll mark you down as a
bit of a pedant, IYSWIM, and start ranting about 'What do you expect for the
    age / money???'
Quite possible on one of those, although they are much more solid that the
    Mk4 that preceded them.
Well I can tell from here that the bonnet gaps are not right...

If it's that bad I'll find something and not just because he's
    Welsh.
Ah... well this might be the very strong light at the end of your tunnel -
if he can't actually tax it until the logbook comes through, you can use
that as grounds to pull striaght out, as you 'need something I can use
    straight away'.

    However: http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/vehlicnc.htm

V11 is the renewal notice, so it would appear it's in his name after all...
but if you're lucky he won't have insurance on it to tax it with ;0)
It's a large estate - the third row of seats is one that is rear facing and
only suitable for kids. It's hidden away under the floor when not in use,
and doesn't take up any floor space.

This is what they look like externally, although mine has steels with hub
    caps, rather than alloys: http://www.mgturner.demon.co.uk/countrym.htm
    No worries.

I'll be looking for £550 for it in the local rag, as it's very clean for one
of these... but will take £450 from a UKRMer. I just need to get the
injectors swapped, and then I want to run it for over 100 miles before
selling it on to make sure it's 100%.

Electric sunroof, and front windows, too :0)

Rear wiper is dead, as is the central locking on the nearside front door,
but I will do my best to sort those before it goes.

  15. I've got a feeling I'll be taking it away with me; how long it stays in
    my possession otoh...

I'm trying to justify it by saying it can't be as bad as the one I saw
today but even Mrs Courier confirmed it was a shed, and for her to do
that, then it really must be bad.

Now, that was a *bad* day.

A fucking awful car, too - it just kept getting worse as we looked at
    more of it too.

    Aye.

An expensive one, too. 750 mile round trip, dragging a full length car
    trailer.
Aye... welds on welds, previously unmentioned rotten exhausts etc.

I wish I'd twatted him until he'd coughed fuel costs, given how out the way
the place was, but an easy thing to say in hindsight.

Instead, I believe the local plod gave him a hard time, as if you recall,
the floor number was distinctly iffy.

They were interested enough to get someone from squad specifically
interested in stolen and rung vehicles to ring and interrogate me in great
detail anyway, and the nub of it was that they were going to inspect the
car, with or without his co-operation.

    Never heard any more, anyway.

  18. ..
that'll be the lack of proper sealing on the rear wiper, as the motor
will have filled up with water and rusted solid. most of the same in
the breakers will be similarly Donald.

The central locking motor will be a straight swap, not so hard.

Used to own a Montego, the very end of line diesel estates are about
the best built of the lot, but they leave a lot to be desired compared
to a 405 or Passat from the same period. Not even as good as Sh*te Old
    BX.
