    Hi all,

Just had my 13 year old come in after first day back at school following a
four month illness to find he needs to study a couple of passages, read the
book and play and generally get to know about Shakespeare's Macbeth.

Does anyone have a copy or know where I can download a torrent of the Roman
Polanski film "Tragedy of Macbeth"? I'm not a UKNova subscriber .. only
    MiniNova.

Actually, any Macbeth film would do, so he gets a 'flavour' of it quite
    quickly.

We have the books, play, and a synopsis but we all feel that a decent film
    version might help him better.

    Cheers.

If anyone has it on DVD already we'd pay beer tokens or give to a nominated
    charity etc for a copy.

ISTR the Orson Welles film was pretty good when I did MacBeth at secondary
    school.
    Unfortunately I don't have a copy.

eMule. I can see a screenful of copies on there with varying degrees of
availability. Might take you a little while to download (eMule can be a
pain in the arse that way) but it's certainly available.

It's a fucking play, designed to be performed in a fucking theatre in
front of a fucking live audience so forget the fucking fillum and
concentrate on what is relevant i.e. the words.

Snot the point. Shakespeare wrote for the theatre of his day, it may or
may not transfer well to either large or small screen but it was
designed for a completely different environment to either of those and
must be appreciated as such, anything else (including letting wimmin
take part) is to cheapen and distort it.

My son's 13, has been off school for the last four months whilst the rest of
his class have been studying the play. They are due to have a test next
week, so we thought the film might help 'set the scene', as he hasn't had
any peer contact or exposure to the 'real' play and such-like that the rest
of his class have had, so please, **** right off.

Who said it was art? Have you ever read any of it, or seen it
performed? Most of it is utter fucking bollox. I can only assume that
Elizabethan London was short really good playwrights and he only made it
by dint of sheer bloody quantity. He wouldn't be able to put on a show
in a pub in an arts council subsidised London pub if he was around these
days. He simply ain't good enough.
